Mrs Geall's
Eclipse Aluminium Windows & Solid Roof Extension
A subtle update to preserve the charm of a 1930s family home for years to come.
Mrs Geall settled on slimframe aluminium windows to replace her outdated leaking windows, resulting in a more thermally-efficient, quieter home.
Amazingly, Mrs Geall’s family home was designed and built by an architect in 1930 and it still maintains the original, charming appearance. However, the old lead windows were constantly causing issues. The family were struggling to clean and maintain them and they had begun to leak.
Maximum light was important to Mrs Geall and this was the reason she chose the super-slim outer frame windows from our Eclipse aluminium collection. The huge expanse of glass meant lots of natural light and an unobstructed view of the outdoors. What’s more, the windows were maintenance free, draft free and easy to clean due to being made from aluminium. To her delight, Mrs Geall wouldn’t need to continue to pay for maintenance each and every year.
As well as replacing the windows, she also wanted an extension at the back of her house that she could use throughout the year for painting watercolours. We recommended a tiled roof extension to ensure the studio kept warm but encouraged her to choose a living space with plenty of glazing, so she could feel inspired by the view of nature outside.
Thanks to the new windows, Mrs Geall is enjoying a more peaceful home as the windows block out much of the outside noise. She can also open and shut the windows without worrying that the old lead windows would fall out. Her home also feels much warmer and is less expensive to heat. We checked up on the charming home a year post installation to check everything was performing well as part of our aftercare promise, which Mrs Geall was very grateful for.
