Home Interior Design Trends Influencing Properties In 2023

With a new year comes a host of new home interior design trends and if you’re planning to make improvements to your property in 2023, it’s useful to have awareness of some of them.

Then, you can incorporate these trends into your plans or have them influence elements of the project.

The necessary research has been done on your behalf by Mitchell Glass, with our design experts reading countless esteemed home-focused blogs for answers to the question of “what are the design trends for 2023?”.

Here’s three of them to get you started.

Wild Wonder™ – Dulux Colour of the Year

This year’s Dulux Colour of the Year is ‘Wild Wonder™’ and the inspiration behind their choice was the natural world.

A muted and delicate green shade, Wild Wonder™ has a recognisable nature undercurrent and Dulux sees the colour as capable of making us feel more closely bonded to the outside world within our home habitats.

It’s so gentle, warm and soft that it wouldn’t look out of place in any room, however, it’s most perfect for kitchens, bedrooms and home offices.

Irregular rug designs

A plain or uninspiring floor can be brought to life with a rug, but it’s not normal square, rectangular and circular coverings that will be gracing our floors in 2023.

Angular, geometric and curved rugs are the latest craze and can’t possibly go unnoticed when laid out in the middle of a room.

Have one as the centrepiece in a conservatory design and watch for the fantastic reaction it gets from people.

Social spaces

It’s taken close to three years for many of us to get back to normal in terms of regularly having guests over to the house following the disruption caused by Covid.

Make social gatherings at home a frequent thing again and host your friends and family in the kitchen if its design contains a breakfast bar and large island where the chat can flow freely.

Eating over, show guests into your conservatory, orangery or home extension for more conversation and party games, but just ensure it is insulated and will be light enough once darkness falls.

Scotland’s most trend-setting home improvement products are on display in our Galashiels showroom. After giving them a good looking over, you will see why Mitchell Glass has been at the forefront of home window design and front door design since 1875.
