How To Create A Cosy Household At Christmas Time
With only 10 days to go until the big day, you should be feeling full-on festive. If you’re not, we suggest popping on some Christmas tunes and pouring out the mulled wine – that’ll do it!

Make the fireplace a focal point
When you walk into someone’s house, it’s their Christmas tree that’s the main focal point of their decorations. Do something different and turn your fireplace into the chief festive centrepiece.
All it will require is, firstly, the placing of a wreath in the space above your fireplace – no, a wreath isn’t just made for a front door!
Then get a garland to cover your mantle and somewhere either on or within it, have a Christmas of some kind in neon lights e.g. ‘Merry Xmas’ or ‘Let it Snow’.
Add fairy lights to bottles and jars
We’re always chucking out bottles and jars. Any that you have now, retain the best of them, give them a clean and fill them with fairy lights for a lovely little light display.
To push through fairy lights into a bottle, just drill a small hole into the bottom of it. Don’t trust yourself with a drill? Take the easier option and buy bottles and jars with fairy lights already inside.
They can be placed in various areas, such as on shelves, window sills etc.
Get your favourite festive snaps out
So many of our childhood memories occurred during Christmas and you’ll have made many more festive memories as an adult.
If you have photographs of any of these past Christmases, put them on show, perhaps on some personalised baubles, in a snow globe or in polaroid form on a hanging display.
They will be a heart-warming sight every time you look at them and give you the cosiest sensation.
