Have you noticed how much more inviting your home feels when it has lots of natural light entering into it?
We’ll be getting more of it as we get closer to the spring season, but you can’t rely on it as much in the winter, which is when colour needs to come into play.
Does your home lack this colour? That can soon be changed.
Mitchell Glass has some great advice on colour and how to integrate it both indoors and outdoors.
Colourful windows & doors
Few tools are as powerful as colour. It can shape our mood, make compact spaces feel strangely roomy and have a really bold impact in most cases.
Your living room certainly needs colour of some kind. Establish it by requesting a vibrant finish for any new windows and doors, or just change your current window treatment – patterned curtains or sprightly new blinds should do the trick.
With it being winter, a red hue would be a nice warm colour – how about Mahogany? It will make the last few weeks of cold weather that bit easier to bear.
Colourful paint
Have you ever taken a paintbrush to an item or area in your house? If not, you should try it. A fresh lick of paint can do wonders for an old cabinet, TV standard or feature wall. Maybe avoid a cream, magnolia or ivory colour though at this time of year.
Steer clear of any brash colours too, and watch out for any colour clashes – bright blue and bright yellow very rarely go together, to give you an example.
Sit down with the colour wheel and pick out colours that are likely to complement one another. Most can be found adjacent to each other, as you will discover when looking at shades such as blue, green and cyan.
Colourful accessories
Going all-in with one colour that you’re not 100% certain about could be a risk. Experiment with a certain colour scheme instead first, doing so with rugs, throws, blankets and cushions.
At least then you can easily change the scheme if it transpires that you’re not keen on the look it generates, and try some different coloured soft furnishings.
We have created brochures for each of our main product ranges and inside them you will find the available colour options. Download any of them for FREE here.
