Visitors to our Galashiels showroom won’t fail to notice the work that’s going on around the building at the moment.

In case you weren’t aware, work is currently progressing along the A7 from Tweedbank beside Galashiels all the way up to Edinburgh as part of the £350million, 30-mile long Borders Railway project, due for completion by summer 2015. It will see the resurrection of the traditional Waverley Line, closed and abandoned in 1969, with connection to the national and international rail network via seven new stations in Shawfair, Eskbank, Newtongrange, Gorebridge, Stow, Tweedbank, and of course, Galashiels. Our present factory was constructed on the site of the original Galashiels railway station in 1975. We will now have the new railway running past our door, hence why we are presently sat in the middle of a construction site, but it’s business as usual, we aren’t going anywhere, we’re part of the fabric in these parts! Customers can still come and visit Mitchell Glass, suppliers and fitters of the country’s finest home improvements for almost 140 years, every weekday 8am-5pm and on Saturdays 9am-noon.
