Timber Is Back And Better Than Ever
There is a lot of publicity and talk about the benefits and positives of the new aluminium windows in Livingston and upvc windows that had been developed to replace the flimsy and quick to deteriorate timber windows of yester year. It is no myth that old single glazed timber windows used to let in a significant amount of the outdoor air, which in summer is not too bad but when you live in the UK and experience consequently around 10 months of rain a year, you need windows you can rely on.
On the flip side timber windows were always preferred to upvc even when upvc were launched because of their superior aesthetic qualities. That is why many window suppliers are now taking timber windows and updating them for the 21st century so that they include timber windows in Scotland with the benefits and requirements of modern day living. Timber windows in Hawick are now much more durable, long lasting and energy efficient whilst retaining the looks that people loved them for all those years ago.
There is also the opportunity to invest in some aluminium windows which are, similarly to timber windows, regenerated from the past times and given a modern update. The glass panes are wider to allow for more light to pass in to your home as well as better security features and durable frames which is giving them a very good name.
Timber windows have also been adapted fro m a security point of view as traditional locking mechanisms on old windows tended to be very unreliable. They were not well known for being able to keep out unwanted attention as it was easy to break the lock with tools used by thieves. There was also the aspect of functionality. Old wooden window frames were susceptible to warping and changing during the climate changes throughout the duration of the year.
Modern timber windows have no specific home they fit best in and are suitable for any style, type or home build. A brand new timber window requires less maintenance and attention which will free up more of your time to admire your new home improvement knowing that you will not need to think about any signs of deterioration for a significant amount of years.
You also don’t need to worry about your timber windows being damaging to the environment as it takes 8 times less energy to put together a timber window compared to a UPVC equivalent. The energy rating scale for upvc windows and aluminium windows still applies to timber windows and can help give you an indicator of your money saving potential.
